Mandatory parameters

First, second and third parameter are mandatory:

{{TextTerm | term | note# | paragraph# }}

When an identical demographic concept can be expressed under different terms, terms are numbered in sequence, a fourth unamed argument, sequence# is added starting from 2:

{{TextTerm | term | note# | paragraph# | sequence# }}

Other named parameters are optional

The first parameter term is the demographic term or demographic expression that will be translated in all other languages. It is indexed by a note number. The term can be in its plural or feminine form as it should be read according to context. A contrario, the index entry should be entered as it will be entered in the index of the printed dictionary.

The second parameter note# is attached to the term for any language.

The third parameter paragraph# is the paragraph number. Notes are numbered starting from 1 but there is no reason to have the same ordering sequence in all languages within a paragraph.

The pair (paragraph, note) is defining uniquely the demographic concept for any language. If different terms can be used for the same demographic concept, a fourth parameter sequence# is added.

Optional parameters

These additional parameters are used to process a nice and complete index for the printed edition of the dictionary.

{{NewTextTerm|term|note#|paragraph#|sequence#|IndexEntry=term in the nominative form|OtherIndexEntry=|OtherIndexEntryTwo=|}}.
{{TextTerm|term|note#|paragraph#|sequence#|IndexEntry=term in the nominative form|OtherIndexEntry=|OtherIndexEntryTwo=|}}.

OtherIndexEntry

In the index, the term 'population statistics' must be also appear as 'statistics, population'. Therefore, 'statistics, population' must be entered as a 'named parameter' OtherIndexEntry:

... human populations are described by means of {{TextTerm|population statistics|4|102|OtherIndexEntry=statistics, population}} or {{TextTerm|demographic statistics|4|102|2|OtherIndexEntry=statistics, demographic}} .

And if you have many entries, you can number them OtherIndexEntryTwo, OtherIndexEntryThird etc. It is a very boring but important work.

IndexEntry

In many languages, like in Europe, index entries must be entered in the nominative and singular form. For most language it is still not possible for any computer to deduce automatically the nominative form, therefore if the term used in the text is not correct for an index, it is asked to enter the nominative form in a 'named parameter' IndexEntry:

Tego rodzaju populacje są ściśle biorąc nazywane {{TextTerm|subpopulacjami|6|101|IndexEntry=subpopulacje}}.

Summary of parameters of NewTextTerm or TextTerm

In summary the syntax of the NewTextTerm or TextTerm template is:

{{NewTextTerm|term|note#|paragraph#|sequence#|IndexEntry=term in the nominative form|OtherIndexEntry=|OtherIndexEntryTwo=|}}.
{{TextTerm|term|note#|paragraph#|sequence#|IndexEntry=term in the nominative form|OtherIndexEntry=|OtherIndexEntryTwo=|}}.
  1. term: term or expression as it should appear in the text. It will be displayed in bold face.
  2. note#: note numer. It will be displayed as an exponent.
  3. paragraph#: it is the number of the paragraph (101 etc.);
  4. sequence#: if two or more terms of the text (TextTerm or NewTextTerm) have the same note number, this sequence number must be entered (2, 3, etc.) in order to distinguish them.
  5. IndexEntry=: the term in the nominative form must be entered if it is different from the 'term'.
  6. OtherIndexEntry=: please enter another possible entry for the index.
  7. OtherIndexEntryTwo=: please enter a second possible entry for the index.
  8. OtherIndexEntryThree=: please enter a third possible entry for the index.
  9. OtherIndexEntryFour=: please enter a fourth possible entry for the index.
  10. EnglishEntry=: is used for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
